Dhofar Islamic champions innovative financing at Oman Islamic Banking Forum 2026
Dhofar Islamic, the Islamic banking window of BankDhofar, underscored the importance of innovative Sharia-compliant financing instruments in deepening Oman’s capital market during its participation in the Oman Islamic Banking Forum 2026.
The forum brought together leading experts, investors and representatives of financial and other institutions to examine the rapid evolution of Islamic banking in the Sultanate of Oman and explore opportunities to support the sector’s continued growth.
Dhofar Islamic participated in a panel discussion titled “Sukuk, Securitization, and Market Development: Enhancing the Depth of Oman’s Capital Market.”
The session explored the next phase of capital market development in Oman, with a particular focus on the potential of sukuk, securitization and private credit to diversify funding sources available to corporates and infrastructure projects.
Discussions also highlighted the importance of broadening the investor base, developing innovative Sharia-compliant financial instruments and strengthening secondary-market liquidity — key elements in building deeper and more diversified capital markets capable of supporting Oman’s long-term economic development.
Dhofar Islamic’s participation reflects its commitment to knowledge exchange, financial innovation and the development of a resilient and diversified Islamic finance ecosystem. It also reinforces its role in delivering Sharia-compliant capital-market and financing solutions that support businesses, investment and economic development, in line with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.
Earlier this year, Dhofar Islamic successfully closed the inaugural issuance under its OMR 250 million Musharakah Sukuk Programme, marking an important milestone in the continued development of Oman’s Islamic capital market. The issuance is particularly significant given the risk-sharing characteristics of Musharakah, under which investors participate in returns generated by the underlying assets or activities in accordance with Islamic finance principles.
Beyond capital markets, Dhofar Islamic continues to expand the reach and accessibility of its retail and business banking services. Its network has grown to more than 30 branches across the Sultanate, providing a broad portfolio of Sharia-compliant products and services catering to children and minors, youth, women, entrepreneurs, businesses and high-net-worth individuals.
Alongside its physical network, Dhofar Islamic continues to invest in digital banking capabilities and electronic payment solutions, enabling customers to access banking services with greater convenience, efficiency and security.
Through its combination of capital-market expertise, product innovation, digital capabilities and expanding customer reach, Dhofar Islamic remains committed to keeping pace with the evolving Islamic banking landscape while maintaining high standards of service quality and Sharia compliance.
